In VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.2, the Async Patch Tool provides an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) to apply critical patches outside the standard lifecycle management (LCM) process, unlike the previously we use to apply the patch via cli method. This tool is especially useful for quickly addressing vulnerabilities or bugs without waiting for the next VCF update bundle. In this blog, we'll walk through the steps to use the Async Patch Tool GUI to apply patches to your VCF environment.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure the following:
You have administrator access to SDDC Manager.
The patch file you intend to apply is downloaded from the VMware portal.
A backup of your VCF environment is in place.
SSH access to SDDC Manager if needed for troubleshooting.
Review KB Article 344935 to find out the patch details .
Step 1: Downloading the Async Patch Tool GUI
